PiLeatha Wins Thailand Green Design Awards 2026 for Sustainable Resource UtilizationMarch 17, 2026 | Awards
Pineapple leaf fiber and natural rubber come together in a next-generation leather alternative that transforms agricultural waste into meaningful material innovation.

PiLeatha, a sustainable leather alternative developed from pineapple leaf fiber and natural rubber, has been recognized as the Winner in the Sustainable Resource Utilization category at the Thailand Green Design Awards (TGDA) 2026.
This recognition highlights PiLeatha’s material innovation approach: transforming underutilized agricultural biomass into a high-value material designed for modern applications. By combining pineapple leaf fiber—a by-product of agricultural activity—with natural rubber, PiLeatha presents a renewable alternative for brands and industries seeking more responsible material solutions.
The Thailand Green Design Awards 2026, organized by the Kasetsart Agricultural and Agro-Industrial Product Improvement Institute (KAPI), was created to promote environmentally responsible design and innovation, with emphasis on efficient resource use, environmental impact reduction, and real-world commercial potential. Within this national platform, PiLeatha was awarded in a category that specifically celebrates innovations advancing sustainable resource utilization.
For PiLeatha, the award represents more than a milestone. It reinforces a broader belief that waste should not be viewed as the end of a lifecycle, but as the beginning of a new material story. Through material design, circular thinking, and agricultural value creation, PiLeatha aims to demonstrate how overlooked resources can be reimagined into purposeful surfaces and products.
As sustainability expectations continue to rise across fashion, lifestyle, interiors, and design industries, material innovation is becoming increasingly important. PiLeatha was developed with this shift in mind—not only to reduce dependence on conventional materials, but also to help shape a future where design and environmental responsibility can move forward together.
This recognition from TGDA 2026 reflects the growing momentum of Thai innovation in the sustainability space and marks another step in PiLeatha’s mission to create materials that are thoughtful, functional, and aligned with a more regenerative future.

“At PiLeatha, we believe agricultural waste can become the foundation for a more responsible material future. This award encourages us to keep pushing material innovation that is both meaningful and commercially relevant.”
